Shaffer, 60, of Mount Wolf, formerly of Lewisburg, Union County, died at 5:30 a.m. May 6, 1999, at York Hospital. Born Nov. 4, 1938, in Somerset, a son of Ruth (Yoder) Shaffer Barron of Somerset and the late Lehman Shaffer. In addition to mother, survived by wife, Frieda R. (Shaulis) Shaffer of Mount Wolf; son, George W. Zimmerman, Mount Wolf; daughter, Rhonda M. Hubert, Harrisburg; 3 grandsons and 3 great grandchildren. Also preceded in death by daughter, Jolinda Lepley. Truck driver for ABF in Carlisle for 11 years, and prior to that had been employed at Cooper Jarrett, Milton. Member of Lewisburg Lutheran Church, Lewisburg Fire Company and Teamsters Local 776. 32nd degree Mason Member of Scottish Rite Valley of Williamsport Consistory. Former member of Charity Lodge 144, Free and Accepted Masons. Worked for 3 years on the pit crew for NASCAR Winston Cup driver Dale Earnhart. He also served in the U.S. Navy. Private funeral services and burial, with military rites presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard. William E. Little Funeral Home Inc., 60 South Main St., Manchester, has charge of arrangements.
