Born June 25, 1917, in Stoystown. Son of the late Milton Peter and Rachel (Brubaker) Shaffer Sr. Also preceded in death by wife, the former Helen Louise Jones, who died June 29, 1983; 2 brothers: Richard Shaffer and Milton P. Shaffer Jr. Survived by number of nieces and nephews: Mrs. Edwin R. (Nancy) Witt, Somerset; Mrs. Rick (Leslie Jane) Kimble, Akron, Ohio; Bryce King, Scottdale; John B. Shaffer, Hemet, Calif.; Linda Hunter, Hemet, Calif.; Richard K. Shaffer, Raleigh, N.C.; David Shaffer, California. Also great-nieces: Mrs. Lee (Lisa) Fosbrick of Friedens, Mrs. Darryl (Lois) Gary of Somerset, Miss Leah Kimble and Rachel Kimble, both of Akron, Ohio; Helen Rae King of Scottdale. Member of Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church, VFW Post 554 and American Legion Post 181. Was a 50-year member of VFW and a 52-year member of American Legion and Glassco Club 171 of Connellsville. 1935 graduate of Stoystown High School. World War II veteran of U.S. Army, 29th Infantry Division. Forklift operator for Anchor Hocking Glass Corp., retiring in 1979 with 31 years service. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Dwight A. Huseman officiating.
