  KATE SHAFFER
  
    Kate Navada Shaffer, 93, of Hyndman RD 1, died Sunday, Dec. 28,
  1988, in Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
    Born May 30, 1893, in Mount Pleasant, she was a daughter of the
  late Samuel and Beuna (Eicher) Reese.  Her husband, Millard G.
  Shaffer, died Jan. 24, 1974.
    She was a charter member of Hyndman Grange 1954 and was a member of
  the Hyndman Senior Citizens and the Women's Christian Temperance Union.
    Surviving are one son, Wayne A. Shaffer, Hyndman; four daughters:
  Mrs. Martha I. Cook, Hyndman RD 1; Mrs. Dorothy N. DeVore, LaVale,
  Md.; Mrs. Lena S. Arnold McGee, Roaring Spring, Md.; and Mrs. Datha
  A. Burkett, Manns Choice RD 1; two sisters: Mrs. Lillian Smith,
  Chambersburg; and Mrs. Martha Stair, Ellerslie, Md.; nine
  grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two
  step-great-grandchildren.
    Friends were received in the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home where
  services were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Joseph R.
  Stains.
    Interment, Hyndman Cemetery.
