  HEMMINGER-SHAFFER
  
  Katherine M. Hemminger-Shaffer, 88, Jennerstown, died April 5, 1985,
  at home of son, Marlin.  Born March 9, 1897, in Conemaugh Township,
  daughter of Allen and Hulda (Wertz) Thomas.   Preceded in death by
  parents; first husband, Ned Hemminger, who died in 1923; second
  husband, Michael L. Shaffer, who died in 1948; brothers, Augustus,
  Leon, Walter and Charles and sisters, Ora and Madie.  Survived by
  three sons, Vernon Hemminger, married to former June Lehman,
  Hollsopple RD 2; Ernest Hemminger, married to former Martha Koontz,
  Central City RD 1; and Marlin Shaffer, married to former Rosann Dull,
  Jennerstown; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  Member
  of Mt. Laurel United Church of Christ and Auxiliary to Jennerstown
  Volunteer Fire Department.  Friends received from 7-9 p.m. Saturday
  and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny
  Street, Boswell, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, the
  Rev. Joseph Beer.  Interment, Thomas Mennonite Cemetery.
