Shaffer, 90, of East Main St., Somerset died Jan. 13, 1980 at Somerset Community Hospital. Born March 26, 1889, son of the late John Henry and Julia (Lehman) Shaffer. Preceded in death by his wife, Bertha in 1975, a brother and two sisters. Survived by a brother, Earl of Somerset. He retired as a B and O Railroad conductor in 1954. Member of the Somerset Church of the Brethren. He was an ardent gardener and expert on shrubbery. His home at 648 East Main Street was well-known because of the shrubbery cut in the form of animals and designs. Friends will be received at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Monday where funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., the Rev. Roger Forry officiating. Interment, Husband Cemetery.
