  SHAFFER
  
    Margaret Christian Shaffer, 88, of Somerset, died Sept. 5, 1999, at
  Somerset Hospital.  Born Aug. 6, 1911, in West Virginia, the daughter
  of the late Rev. Gordon and Margaret (Oldham) Jones.  Also preceded
  in death by husband, Carl T. Shaffer, five brothers and two
  sisters.  Survived by these children: Carol, married to Paul
  Matthews, of Somerset; James, married to the former Jean Miller, of
  West Mifflin; and Gary, married to the former Shirley Kupcik, of
  Cromwell, Conn.  Also survived by grandchildren: Paula Griffith and
  fiance Joe Isenman of Somerset; Peggy Acker, married to Wade Acker of
  Elizabethtown; Patti Matthews and fiance Dayton Shores of Honey Brook;
  Thomas Shaffer, Margaret Shaffer and Ronald Shaffer, all of West
  Mifflin; great-granddaughter Katie Acker and sister Mary Leatherman
  of Winchester, Va.  Member of Calvary United Methodist Church and a
  graduate of Hyndman High School.  Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7
  to 9 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home,
  where services will be held at noon Wednesday with the Rev. Raymond
  Lyon officiating.  Interment in the Somerset County Memorial Park.
