  Margaret May Shaffer
  
  Margaret May Shaffer, 96, Somerset, died June 23, 2004, at Somerset
  Hospital.  Born May 18, 1908, in Lincoln Township, a daughter of
  Samuel Milton and Valeria Ann (Miller) Berkey.  Preceded in death by
  parents; husband, William Sargent Shaffer, who died June 7, 1980;
  granddaughter, Deborah Paul; three brothers, Cloyd, Telford and
  Charles Berkey and sister, Mary Berkey.  Survived by children: Donald
  G. Shaffer, married to the former Ruth Ringer, Somerset, Mrs. Lee Ann
  Hommel, Pleasant Hills, William Allen Shaffer, married to the former
  Glennis Tischler, Norfolk, Va., and Mrs. Norman (Linda) Paul,
  Pittsburgh; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.  Also
  survived by Mrs. Anna Maurer, Mrs. Irene Barnett, Levi M. Berkey and
  wife Mildred, Harold Berkey, all of Somerset.  Member of St. Paul's
  United Church of Christ and its quilting circle, and Somerset Garden
  Club.  A 1926 graduate of Somerset High School.  Friends received from
  2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home.
  Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's
  United Church of Christ, Somerset.  The Rev. Dr. Herbert R. Hicks
  officiating.  Interment, Edie Cemetery.  Contributions may be made to
  St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 202 W. Union St., Somerset, Pa.
