  Mary B. Shaffer, 82, Boswell RD 1, died Dec. 25, 1978, at Somerset
  Community Hospital.  Born Aug. 15, 1896, in Jenner Township, daughter
  of Franklin E. and Agnes (Koontz) Berkey.  Preceded in death by
  parents, a sister, four brothers and first husband, Harry Georg. 
  Survived by husband, William W. Shaffer Sr.; children: Margaret, wife
  of Richard Hemminger; William Jr., married to the former Joann
  Ribblett; and Robert, married to the former Jean Huster, all of
  Boswell RD 1; Lee J., married to the former Geraldine Felix; and
  Florence, wife of Leslie Rose, both of Boswell RD 2; Helen, wife of
  the Rev. Max DeArmey, Hollsopple RD 2; Lois, wife of Robert Lohr,
  White Star Village, Jennerstown; Daryle, wife of Merle Bittner,
  Boulder, Colo.; and Paul, California; 25 grandchildren; and 20
  great-grandchildren.  She was a member of the Hopewell United
  Methodist Church.  Celebrated 58th wedding anniversary June 4,
  1978.  Friends were received Tuesday evening and will be received
  from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Joseph H. Hoffman Funeral Home, 227
  Allegheny St., Boswell, where a service will be held 1:30 p.m.
  Thursday.  Interment, Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown.
