  Mary E. Shaffer, 90, Johnstown, formerly of Friedens RD 1, died March
  12, 1986, at Allegheny Lutheran Home, Johnstown.  Born Feb. 28, 1896,
  in Quemahoning Township, she was a daughter of the late David and
  Hester (Miller) Maxwell.  Preceded in death by husband, Harry E.;
  daughters, Violet, Leona, and Marie; and six brothers and a sister. 
  Survived by these children: Harry, Ft. Myers, Fla.; Mrs. Boyd (Ida
  May) Custer, Hooversville RD 1; Mrs. Blanche Emert, Alhambra, Calif.;
  Mrs. John (Myrtle) Smith, Price, Utah; Donald, Johnstown; Mrs. Kenneth
  (Annie) Eash, Jerome; Mrs. Charles (Jennie) Mutz, Pontiac, Mich.;
  Agnes, Los Angeles, Ca.; Frank, Boswell RD 1; and 24 grandchildren. 
  She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Stoystown.  Family will
  receive friends 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the
  Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where service will be held at 11 a.m.
  Saturday, the Rev. Walter J. Emswiler officiating.  Interment,
  Horner-Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
