  Mrs. Maude G. Shaffer, 91, of Stoystown RD 1 died Jan 24, 1978 at
  Somerset Community Hospital.  Born June 8, 1886 in Shenandoah Valley,
  Va., daughter of Joshua and Cornelia (Bowers) Miller.  Preceded in
  death by parents; husband, Charley, on June 24, 1940; son, Russell;
  two infant sons, Charley and James; sister, Mrs. Bertie Polk; and
  four brothers, Howard, Oscar, Fred and John.  Survived by these
  children: Fred W., married to the former Alice Giffen, Erie; Samuel
  M., married to the former Louise James, Cumberland, Md.; Sarah Jean,
  wife of Donald G. Holder, Stoystown RD 1; 14 grandchildren; 36
  great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.  Oldest member of
  the Boswell Church of God.  Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m.
  Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and until noon Friday at
  the Joseph G. Hoffman Funeral Home, 409 Main St., Boswell, when body
  will be moved to the Boswell Church of God for viewing from 1 p.m.
  until time of services at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Samuel E. Charlton and
  the Rev. B.J. Jones.  Interment, Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Listie.
