  Nevin Paul Shaffer, 89, of Somerset, died Sept. 29, 2003 at his
  residence.  Born Aug. 31, 1914 in Jenner Crossroads, Somerset County
  a son of George and Mary Naomi (Shaulis) Shaffer.  Preceded in death
  by parents; grandson, Hans Blough; brothers, David O. and Dwight
  Shaffer and sister Lillian Friedline.  Survived by wife, the former
  E. Geraldine Miller; children:  Mrs. James (Cathy Lou) Giesey of
  Carmichaels, Mrs. Wilbur (Joyce Elaine) Derencin of Altoona, Mrs.
  Kenneth (Cheryl Jean) Parker of French Creek, W. Va.;
  grandchildren:  Mrs. Michael (Lisa) Podolski of Allston, Mass., Mrs.
  Orlando (Heather) Collazo of St. Petersburg, Fla., Eric Derencin of
  Altoona, John Nathan Allen and wife Candace of Pittsburgh, Mark
  Justin Allen and wife Shana of Huttonsville, W.Va., Robert Nevin
  Allen and wife Jodi of Clarksburg, W.Va.; great-grandchildren: 
  Nathan Christopher Allen and Micah James Allen.  Brother of Mrs. Mary
  Jane Blough of Davidsville and Mrs. Fred (Myra Elaine) Shaffer of
  Somerset.  A 1932 graduate of Boswell High School, retired electrical
  welder for the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union Local 354 of
  Ligonier.  Member of Somerset Alliance Church.  Friends received 2 to
  4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home where
  service will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. James
  Vandervort and Rev. Scott Ream officiating.  Interment Somerset
  County Memorial Park.  Contributions may be made to Somerset "In
  Touch Hospice," 1590 N. Center Ave., Somerset, Pa. 15501 or Somerset
  Alliance Church, 708 Stoystown Road, Somerset, Pa. 15501.
