    Norman L. Shaffer Jr., 77, Ohio Street, Boswell, died Feb. 14,
  2000, at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.  Born Oct. 23, 1922, in
  Ligonier Township, Westmoreland County, son of Norman L. Sr. and Rena
  Pearl (Roadman) Shaffer.  Preceded in death by parents; sisters: 
  Laura Belle Beal and Ida Mae Griner; and brother, Robert Earl
  Shaffer.  Survived by his wife, the former Phyllis E. Aukerman; son,
  Ronald A., Pettersburg; and grandsons:  Craig, married to Beth Ann
  Alimecco, Dillsburg; and Kris, married to Sherry Berkhimer, New
  Oxford.  Brother of:  William Edward, married to Gertrude Hood,
  Ligonier and Fla.; Raymond E., married to Rosella Tirdell, Shade Gap;
  Mary Louise, wife of Walter Miller, Hanover and Fla.; Carla D.
  Jeffreys, Florida; and Wilma June, wife of Glenn Mosteller,
  Allenwood.  1941 graduate of Ligonier High School, retired employee
  of the former Glidden Metals, Johnstown, with over 33 years service,
  avid outdoorsman, Navy veteran of World War II, observed 53rd wedding
  anniversary Nov. 8, 1999.  No visitation.  Following cremation, a
  memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Covenant
  Presbyterian Church, Boswell, with the Rev. Peter R. Grosso and the
  Rev. Michael A. Dunlap officiating.  Interment, Ligonier Valley
  Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Covenant
  Presbyterian Church, Boswell, 15531.  Arrangements in charge of the
  Hoffman Funeral Homes, Boswell.
