  SHAFFER
  
  Roy M. Shaffer, 82, Hooversville, died Sept. 11, 1978, in Windber
  Hospital.  Born July 25, 1896, in Shade Township, son of the late
  Cornilius and Maggie (Short) Shaffer.  Preceded in death by first
  wife, N. Elnora Jones; son, Melvin C.; one brother; and two
  sisters.  Survived by widow, the former Ila G. Manges; and these
  children:  Merle R. Sr., San Antonio, Texas; H. Ivan, El Paso, Texas;
  Willa L., wife of Elton Fleck, West Point, Texas; Esther, wife of
  Sheridan Scarberry, LaGrange, Texas; and Carole, Springfield, Va.;
  also 23 grandchildren.  Brother of Mrs. Ilga Sebring and Mrs. Ella
  Cable, both of Windber.  Member of Ridge Church of the Brethren. 
  Navy vet of WWI.  Retired from Johnstown Plant, Bethlehem Steel
  Corp.  Friends received 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday
  in the Charles E. Brumbaugh Funeral Home, Central City, where service
  will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, the Rev. Herald V. Seese.  Interment,
  Berkey Cemetery.
