SHANNON Mrs. Clara Ketner Shannon, 84, mother of Mrs. H. W. Ramer, died at 5 o'clock Monday morning, Sept. 14, 1942, at her home, 28 Pennsylvania Avenue, Watsontown, Pa., after an illness of a little more than a month. She suffered a stroke August 12, and her condition has been critical since that time. Mrs. Shannon was born June 19, 1858, in Montour County, near Washingtonville. She came to Watsontown with her parents in 1866. She joined the First Lutheran Church by confirmation on August 30, 1874, and was active in all branches of the church since that time. She belonged to the oldest class in continuous service in the Sunday school and organized the class now known as the George H. Shannon class. She attended services in the church the Sunday before she became ill. Mrs. Shannon was a life member of the missionary society of the church. Her death occurred in the home that was built for her as a bride in 1888. Her husband, George H. Shannon's death occurred 11 years ago. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. H. W. Ramer, of the Tressler Orphan's Home at Loysville, Mrs. Ethal S. McWilliams, at home; and three grandchildren: Ethel E. Ramer, of Lewisburg, George H. Ramer, of Loysville, and Mary Chloe McWilliams, at home. Services were held at the residence Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment was in Watsontown Cemetery. The Rev. Harold A. Ahalt, pastor of the First Lutheran Church, officiated. Meyersdale Republican, October 1, 1942
