Shansey, 54, of Washington, D.C., an attorney employed by the Veterans Administration, died January 24, 1947, in Oakland, Calif. He was the husband of Elsie R. Miller, a daughter of W. D. Miller, formerly a resident of Salisbury and Springs. Mr. Shansey had recently been transferred to California, and his family expected to join him in the near future. His death was due to a heart attack after which he lived only thirty minutes. He was well and in his office the entire day before his death. Born in New Haven, Conn., Mr. Shansey graduated from Yale University law school, joining the VA soon after being admitted to the bar. He served as an attorney for the veterans' organization for 28 years, and had been assigned to the post in Oakland only two months before his death. His body was brought back to Washington and buried in Fort Lincoln Cemetery, after requiem mass was held in the Church of Our Lady of Victory, January 30. Besides his wife, he is survived by four children: George Terry, John F., Eileen Joyce and Wayne Miller Shansey, all of Washington, and two grandchildren. Meyersdale Republican, March 6, 1947
