Born Jan. 6, 1922, in Cambria County, she is the daughter of the late Johan Joseph and Mary (Kowalczyk) Vochek. Also preceded in death by sisters, Catherine Holcer, Ann Hennen, Mary Brish, Edna Lecato and Carolyn Vochek and a brother, John "Jake" Vochek. Survived by husband, Kermit D. Shaulis; and these children, Carolyn L. Smith and husband, Dale, Birdsboro; Milton Jon Shaulis, Bear Rocks; Kermit W. Shaulis, married to the former Beverly Brant, Pleasant Hills; and Patricia A. Weimer, Somerset; grandchildren, Stephen Shaulis and wife, Cindi, Ligonier; Elton Schrock and wife, Julie, Rockwood; David Smith and wife, Trista, Baltimore; Sandi Smith and friend, Chris, Limrick; Brandon Adams and wife, Lauren and Brett Adams, Wilmington, N.C.; Benjamin Shaulis, Pleasant Hills; Angela Weimer, Elizabethtown; Maggie Shaulis, Acme; and Curtis Weimer, Somerset; Great-grandchildren, Jordan Shaulis and Nathan Schrock. Sister of Joseph "Judd" Vochek and wife, Georgia, San Diego; Rose Jacobs and husband, Joseph, Trenton, N.J.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Member of Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church and a longtime treasurer of the Friendly Crusaders Sunday School Class. She was active in working with the Quilters and Knotters at the church and the Potato Hut at Mountain Craft Days. She was employed at Somerset Area Schools as head cook at the Lincoln Township Elementary School, retiring in 1984 after 17 years of service. Former member of the Wheelers and Dealers Square Dance Club. She liked doing hairpin lace having made afghans for each family member. Friends received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, Somerset, and from 1 until 2 p.m. Sunday, the time of service, in the Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dennis Doebler officiating. Interment in Casebeer Cemetery.
