Shaulis Sr., 85, of Sarasota, Fla., died Aug. 5, 2003. Born Feb. 2, 1918 in Zimmerman, Somerset County. He moved to Sarasota from Zimmerman 23 years ago. Survived by wife of 63 years Ida Mae; three daughters, Donna K. Shaulis of Sarasota, Janine Yoder of Hollsopple, and Karen Shaulis of Bradenton, Fla.; three sons, Merle L. Shaulis Jr., Donald R. and Edward D. Shaulis, all of Sarasota. Brother of Eileen Walker of Somerset and Dean Shaulis of Somerset. Also 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He retired from U.S. Steel in Johnstown. Member of Moose Lodge in Johnstown. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Palms Funeral Home. Also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sylvia Jean and two infant brothers, Clyde and Gerald Shaulis and a brother, Leo Shaulis. Survived by his wife of 63 years, Ida Mae (Wilson) Shaulis; three daughters, Donna K. Shaulis of Sarasota, Janine Yoder of Hollsopple and Karen Shaulis of Bradenton, Fla.; three sons, Merle L. Shaulis Jr., Donald R. and Edward D. Shaulis all of Sarasota, Fla. Brother of Eileen Walker and Dean Shaulis, both of Somerset; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
