"Dick" Shaulis, 68, of 4751 Penn Ave., Boswell RD 3, died Feb. 4, 1997, at Somerset Hospital. Born May 13, 1928, in Jenner Township. Son of Earl W. and Stella M. (Daniels) Shaulis. Preceded in death by parents and brother, William R. Survived by his wife, the former Emma Eckenrode, and these children: Connie Ofsanko, Boswell; Karen, wife of Paul Levadnuk; Christine, wife of Gary Hershey, and Guy, all of Jerome. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Brother of Louise, wife of David Pritts; Esther, wife of Clair Roberts; Fern, wife of Eugene Whipkey, and Robert, married to Carol Ryniak-Vininsky, all of Boswell RD 2. Also a sister-in-law, Helen Shaulis of Boswell RD 3, and a half-brother, Wade Shaulis. Member of Laurel Hill Gospel Tabernacle, Jennerstown, where he served as a deacon and was a singer for the "Tabernacle Hour" on Sunday mornings on WVSC. Member of the UMWA. Observed 47th wedding anniversary on Nov. 21, 1996. Retired coal miner for Beth-Energy Mine 78, Windber. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell. Viewing also from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Laurel Hill Tabernacle, Rev. C.J. Ickes and Gary Anderson officiating. Interment, Beam Cemetery.
