Shaulis, 76, of Allegheny Street, Boswell, died unexpectedly Aug. 7, 1998, at Somerset Hospital. Born Jan. 1, 1922, in Ralphton, son of Edward H. and Clarissa (Dermer) Shaulis. Preceded in death by parents; wife, former Amelia "Millie" (Lepter), who died Nov. 12, 1993. Survived by daughter, Carol, married to Ross Barnick; and son, Robert, both of Boswell; granddaughters, Suzanne (Bjes), widow of Jeffrey Montgomery, Somerset, RD; and Tiffany (Bjes), wife of James Barron III, Boswell, RD; and four great-grandsons, Cory, Jeremy, Kevin and J. Cole Montgomery. Brother of Virginia, wife of Donald Griffith, Orlando, Fla. Member of St. Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boswell, where he served several terms on council, also served as church financial recorder. A 1939 graduate of former Boswell High School. During World War II served on Guadalcanal with 369th Engineer Special Service Regiment. Owned and operated Shaulis Sand Company for many years, and was a dragline operator for several area coal companies. Friends received from noon to 4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell. Private graveside service and interment at Jenner Crossroads Cemetery at convenience of family.
