Shaulis Sr., 74, of Grasonville, Md., died Sept. 1, 2001 at Anne Arundel Medical Center of cancer. He was born July 24, 1927 in Somerset. He is preceded in death by a daughter Rose R. Stevens. He is survived by his wife, Emily M. Shaulis. They would have been married 55 years on October 14. He is also survived by a son, William F. Shaulis, Jr. of Centreville, Md., three daughters: Sandra K. Shaulis of Annapolis, Md.; Ella M. Angstadt of Columbia, Md. and Wilma L. Phoebus of Brandywine, Md. One brother, James Shaulis of New Jersey, four sisters: Evelyn Mack of Ohio, Betty Hamer, Mary Enos, and Emma Moore all of Pa. Twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He worked for David W. Taylor Research & Development (DWTNSRDC) in Annapolis, Md. as a test mechanic until his retirement in 1990. After moving to the Eastern Shore in 1984, Mr. Shaulis went to work for "Big Daddy's" Texaco in Chester, Md. where he worked for the last 16 years. He was a past member of the Moose Lodge in Annapolis, Md. before moving to Grasonville, Md. He held the office of governor two times and secretary three times and belonging to the fellowship. Mr. Shaulis loved gardening and made beautiful wood art. He also enjoyed raising his chickens (150). People came from all over to get eggs. Visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, Inc., 147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis, Md., where funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
