She was the beloved wife of the late J. Warren Shaver; dear mother of John W. Shaver and his wife Juliana, Suzanne McLaughlin and her husband Sherman, Samuel Shaver and his wife Catherine, Bernice Heisey and her husband John, Kent Shaver and his wife Karen and Pete Shaver and his wife Karen. She was a sister of Rebecca Philson McClure. Also survived by 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and the following nieces and nephews: Mary Kay Kish, Anne Shale, Samuel P. McClure, Jeffrey McClure (children of Rebecca McClure); Robert M. Philson, Nancy Kopf, Rebecca Diak (children of Samuel R. Philson). Mrs. Shaver was a member of a long established family living in Meyersdale and Somerset County. She had ancestors who participated in the American Revolution and was a descendant of Robert Philson, a leader of the Whiskey Rebellion. Mrs. Shaver was a graduate of Goucher College in 1934, her major studies were in Biochemistry and Social Work. Her interests remained many, but she was especially dedicated to music, having studied at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Md. She was an organist for several congregations and she volunteered her musical talents at Valley Care Nursing Home in Sewickley. New Republic, July 18, 2002 [S1228]
