Shaw, died at 9:10 a.m., Sunday, April 18, at her home in Central City. She was a daughter of Charles and Catherine (Gnagey) Bowman and was born on May 8, 1897, near Meyersdale. Surviving are her father, who resides in McHenry, Md.; her husband, and a son, Charles Franklin Shaw, a member of the U.S. Navy. She also leaves a stepson and two step-daughters, Lester M. Shaw, Clarksville, Pa.; Mrs. John Stern, Waterman, and Mrs. Ralph Good, Homer City. Mrs. Shaw was a sister of Mrs. B. H. Witt, Summit Mills; Mrs. Ralph Romesberg, McHenry, Md.; Mrs. Russell Wilburn, Mostoller; Melvin Bowman, Oakland, Md., and Carl Bowman, Morgantown, W.Va. Another brother, Floyd, died in July, 1942. Funeral services, under the direction of John Blanset, Stoystown mortician, were held this (Thursday) afternoon at 3 o'clock. The rites were conducted in the Central City United Brethren Church by Rev. W. R. Fisher. The bereaved husband formerly was a police officer of Meyersdale, but moved to Central City some years ago to accept employment as chief of police of that town. Meyersdale Republican, April 22, 1943
