Born Nov. 23, 1919 in Jerome. Son of the late Robert Lee and Lola Ellen (Baker) Shawley. Also preceded in death by four brothers: Lloyd, Earl, James, and Donald Shawley. Survived by his wife, the former Beryl Elaine Schlosnagle, to whom he was married for 39 years; these children: Mrs. Jerry D. "Buck" (Arlene) DeWitt and Thomas A. Shawley, married to the former Kathy Russell, all of Somerset RD 4; four grandchildren: Jennifer and Melissa DeWitt and Aimee and Aaron Shawley. Brother of Mrs. Helen Snoeberger, Boswell; Wade E. Shawley, Jerome; and Ralph I. Shawley, Cleveland, Ohio. Retired self-employed carpet and floor covering installer. U.S. Army veteran of Korean War. Member of Samuel's Lutheran Church; Laurel Ridge Sportsmen's Association and the Mountain Field and Stream Club of Roxbury. Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, where service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, the Revs. John Palko and Michael A. Dunlap officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. Family suggests contributions to the Somerset "In Touch" Hospice, 651 S. Center Ave., Somerset, Pa. 15501.
