Shearer, 69, 303 Federal St., Perryopolis, formerly of Connellsville, died Sept. 27, 1984 in Westmoreland Hospital. He was born Dec. 27, 1914 in Mill Run, a son of the late Samuel and Mary E. (Hutton) Shearer. He lived in Connellsville most of his life, was a Dunbar Township High School graduate and was a service station operator in Connellsville for many years. He was a retired security and attendance officer for the Connellsville Area School District. He was a former constable in Dunbar Township and a former president of the Fayette County Gasoline Dealers Association. He was a member of the U.C.T. and the A.A.R.P., General Worth Lodge. I.O.O.F., and the East Huntingdon Township Sportsmen's Club. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a former president of the trustee board. Surviving are his wife, Doris McWilliams Shearer; one son, Randall G., Somerset; four daughters: Mrs. Samuel (Nelda) R. Osterwise; Kathy A. Brooks; Marilyn J. Shearer and Linda Shearer, all of Connellsville; a stepson, Douglas McWilliams, Holbrook, Long Island; three grandchildren; three step grandchildren; a sister, Cora Bess Shearer, Connellsville; three brothers, Reed, Scottdale; Roy, Delmont; and Harold W., West Chester. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gertrude E.; two brothers, Ernest L. and Samuel Jr.; and a sister, Mrs. Ethel Ruth Ohler; and also a grandson. Friends will be received at the Brooks Funeral Home Inc., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, from 2-9 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Sunday where services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. William Shellhammer officiating.
