Born Nov. 25, 1907, in Ralphton, son of Michael and Mary (Ristvey) Sheftic Sr. Preceded in death by parents; brother, George; and one infant sister. Survived by widow, former Anna H. Hudak; two children, Michael P., married to former Jane Howard, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; Lois Ann, wife of Dr. Thomas Bender, Anchorage, Alaska; five grandchildren: Michael, Thomas and Ann Marie Sheftic; Laura Ann and Thomas R. Bender. Brother of: Mary Skasko, Gaithersburg, Md.; John, Nick, and Andrew, all of Jenners; Basil, Boswell RD 2; Anna Melnkovic, Windber; Susan Vesek, Baltimore, Md.; Stephen, Falls Church, Va. Member of St. Mary's Orthodox Greek Catholic Church, Jenners; Jenner Rod and Gun Club; and Jenner Local 1742, UMWA. Retired miner and former employee of Specht and Son, Stoystown. Celebrated 52nd wedding anniversary June 1, 1983. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home, 409 Main St., Boswell, where Christian burial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday. Panachida at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at funeral home, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, the Rev. Michael Shuster. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
