All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ An Old Settler Called Home Jacob Sherbine, a resident of Jackson County for more than a half century, died early Wednesday morning at the home of his son, George Sherbine, east of Maquoketa. Mr. Sherbine was born on February 1, 1826, in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. He left Pennsylvania in the Spring of 1855 and settled in Jackson County, Iowa, where he has since resided. Mrs. Sherbine preceded her husband to the grave, dying about one and a half years ago. Mr. Sherbine, although far advanced in years, was very active and enjoyed good health until about ten days ago when stricken with paralysis. From early childhood he had been a member of the M. E. Church and lived a true Christian life. Besides his son, one daughter, Mrs. Addie Young and one granddaughter survive. Funeral services will be held from the home this afternoon at two o'clock. Rev.
