Sherman, 66, of Arp, Texas, died at his residence of an apparent heart attack on March 22, 1984. He was born August 18, 1917 in Meyersdale, and moved to Arp, Texas nine years ago from Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late John and Mary Sherman. He was a professional engineer and was licensed by Texas and Oklahoma. He was employed by Gulf Oil Corporation for 40 years and was manager of all gasoline manufacturing plants in the United States. He retired in 1975. Mr. Sherman was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, the Fort Worth and Tyler Petroleum Clubs and the Troup Country Club. He was a graduate of Villanova University, TCU and the University of Houston. He was a veteran of World War II in the Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Frankie, Arp, Texas; a son, John, Los Angeles, Calif.; and a sister, Evelyn Gimble, Meyersdale. Friends were received at the Overton Funeral Home, Arp, Texas where services were held Saturday, March 24 at Immaculate Conception Church with Monsignor Milam J. Joseph and the Rev. Michael Hartwig officiating. Interment was in Ebenezer Cemetery, Arp, Texas. The Republic, April 5, 1984 [S1323]
