Born April 21, 1953, in Meyersdale. Daughter of Walter R. Altfather Sr. and B. Elaine (Maust) Altfather, Fawn Township, Allegheny County. Previously resided in Tarentum. Was executive secretary of Precision Grinding and Specialities Inc., Buffalo Township, for 10 years. Affiliated with St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Buffalo Township. Graduated in 1971 from Freeport High School and attended Butler Community College for one year. Was on the dean's list. Involved with Boy Scouts of America, helping her son attain rank of Eagle Scout. Enjoyed knitting scarfs for homeless. Former 4-H member. Survived by her parents; husband, Edward M. "Mike" Sherman, and son, Michael C. Sherman, at home; brothers: Walter R. Altfather Jr., Tarentum, and Timothy D. Altfather, Weedville. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Duster Funeral Home, Tenth Avenue at Corbet Street, Tarentum, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Church, the Rev. Emery L. Barnett officiating. Burial, Mt. Airy Mausoleum, Natrona Heights. Family suggests contributions be made to St. Paul Church, P.O. Box 128, 409 Sarver Road, Sarver, Pa. 16055.
