Shetler, 96, Tennessee, formerly of Davidsville, passed from this life Nov. 23, 2005, at the McKendree Village Health Care Center, Hermitage, Tenn., where he and his wife resided the past few years. Born July 19, 1909, in Johnstown, son of Daniel and Lucy (Weaver) Shetler. Preceded in death by parents; granddaughter, Tracy Mock and sister, Erma Alwine. Survived by wife of 74 years, the former Grace Shaffer; children: Dean R., married to Barbara Seese, Sacramento, Calif.; Lois, married to Donald Mock, Crestview, Fla. and Joseph, married to Brenda Johnson, Old Hickory, Tenn.; grandchildren: David Shetler and wife, Marcia, New Paris, Ohio; Mark Shetler and wife, Melissa, Sacramento, Calif.; Douglas Mock and wife, Delsa, Pensacola, Fla.; Scott Mock, Montgomery, Ala.; Michelle Flatt, and husband, Fred, Tupelo, Miss.; Michael Johnson and wife, Faith, Pontotoc, Miss., and Melanie Adkins, Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; great-grandchildren: Megan and Matthew Shetler, Hailee and Christopher Mock; Bryan and Jordan Flatt; Tamara, Brandon and Marissa Johnson; Michaela and Andrew Adkins and Lauren and David Grove; sister, Ruth Shetler, Soap Hollow Road, Johnstown; brother, Dwight Shetler and wife, Gladys, Bedford and several nieces and nephews. The Rev. Shetler was a long time resident of Davidsville and was an area farmer, carpenter and coal miner for many years. He also served as pastor for the former Seanor Mennonite Church and worked in the maintenance department at the Scalp Level Church of the Brethren Home. After retirement, the Shetlers moved to Sarasota, Fla., where they lived for 20 years. He founded the Bethel Mennonite Church in Sarasota, where he was an elder and served on several boards. In 1996, the couple moved to Old Hickory, Tenn., and resided with their son, Joseph and his wife, Brenda. The Rev. Shetler was a member of the Victory Baptist Church, Mt. Juliet, Tenn. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Davidsville, where service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in charge of Clayton's grandsons, the Revs. David and Mark Shetler. Interment, Kaufman Cemetery, Davidsville. Memorials to the "Live Hospice," c/o the family, would be appreciated.
