Shields Sr., 76, Quemahoning Street, Boswell, died Oct. 8, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center. Born May 23, 1932, in Boswell, son of Carl C. "Jeff" and Katherine E. (Kennell) Shields. Preceded in death by parents; and brother, Carl J. Survived by wife of 53 years, the former Janet M. Linko; sons, Jack R. Jr., married to Lisa Stiffler, Jennerstown; and Nick R., and fiancˇe, Cathy Lasky, Johnstown; and three granddaughters, Jennifer, Samantha and Britteny. Brother of Evelyn, widow of Dean Reynolds, Hollidaysburg; Robert, married to Euldean Reckner, Jerome; Nancy, married to Carl Lamb, Boswell; Faye, widow of Cornell Donati, Windber; Janice, widow of Ernest Tasin, Boswell; Donna, married to Robert Dively, Mount Pleasant; Marian, Boswell; Richard and wife, of Pompano Beach, Fla.; Donald, married to Carol Blough, Fredericksburg, Va.; Linda, widow of Richard Cook, Boswell; Edward, married to Carol Wanko, Conemaugh Township; and David, State College. Also survived by numerous other relatives and friends. Member of SS. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, Boswell; Jenner Local 1742, UMWA; Jenner Rod and Gun Club; Boswell Volunteer Fire Department; Somerset Post 554; VFW; Boswell Senior Citizens; and Boswell Area Historical Society. Volunteered at Boswell Food Pantry. Army veteran of Korean War, having received the Bronze Service Star and Korean Service Medal. Viewing from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main St., Boswell, where service will be held at noon Saturday. The Rev. Father John W. Govrusik officiating. Interment Jenner Crossroads Cemetery, with military rites accorded by Somerset County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial to Boswell Volunteer Fire Department would be appreciated.
