Shipley, 82, Somerset, died Aug. 16, 2008, in Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley,W.Va. Born Jan. 26, 1926,in Mill Run, the son of the late Charles C. and Katherine (Hawk) Shipley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Kenneth, Walter, Delbert, Carl, Howard and Elmer Shipley; and one sister, Emma Jean Fullem. He is survived by his wife, Loretta Shawley Shipley, his children Terry Shipley and wife, Lois, Mill Run; Tamara Shroyer and husband, Roger, Mill Run;Tryinia Pierno and husband, Mark, Mill Run; Joanie Pritts and husband, Matt, Crofton, Md.; his stepchildren, Warren Tressler and Selena, Mill Run; Wayne Tressler and wife, Jeannie, Champion; Dane Tressler and wife, Karen, Normalville; Dale Tressler, Mill Run; Richard Clevenger, Philadelphia; Brenda Keslar and Bill Keslar, Jacksonville, Fla.; Vicki Barkley and husband, Jim, Rockwood; Maxine Fulton and husband, Matthew, Connellsville; Eileen May, Mill Run; Barbara Dugan, Somerset; 22 grandchildren; Heather Hayman, Janine Keslar, Heath and Nathan Barkley, Kyle and Austin Fulton, Terry Shipley, Brandi Black, Tara Shipley, Dylan and Zachary Tressler, Kayla Sherbondy, Kana Fabian, Kara Shroyer, Cody, Andrea and Ryan Pierno, Nikki Davis, Amy Shaffer, Toni Porterfield, Tammy Marshall and Tiffany Clark; and 20 great-grandchildren. He was a retired welder for the B&O and later C&O Railroad. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way and the Indian Creek Baptist Church. Clyde was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, and he loved attending Bluegrass festivals, family gatherings, traveling and listening to Pastor Sam on the radio. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc., Route 711, Melcroft, where service will be held 11 a.m.Thursday. Sam Coughenour, pastor, officiating. Interment, with full military rites, will follow in the Indian Creek Baptist Cemetery, Mill Run.
