  MABEL ALVERTA SHIPLEY
  
    Mabel Alverta Shipley, 78, of 310 Main St., Berlin, died March 4,
  1980, in Somerset Community Hospital.
    She was born Jan. 17, 1902, in Somerset County, a daughter of the
  late Norman Bruce and Sarah Ellen (Gladwell) Poorbaugh.  She was
  preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Shipley Sr., who died in
  1976; two sons: Charles F. Jr. and Franklin H.; and one daughter; S.
  Jane (Shipley) Maust, six brothers and two sisters.  She is survived
  by three sons: Richard W. (Jack) of Berlin; James E. of Butler;
  Donald W. of Glencoe; and one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Gail) Eicher of
  Washington, Pa.; 25 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.  Also
  survived by one brother, Norman B. Poorbaugh of Hyndman.  She was a
  member of the new [sic*] Hope United Church of Christ and the Berlin
  Area Senior Citizens.
    Friends were received at the Johnson-Kuhlman Funeral Home, Berlin,
  where services were held with the Rev. William Moser officiating. 
  Interment, Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.  Contributions to the New Hope
  United Church of Christ Memorial Fund in Mabel's memory will be
  appreciated.
