  MERLE W. SHIPLEY
  
    Merle W. Shipley, 65, of Confluence RD 1, died Jan. 18, 1979 in
  Somerset Community Hospital.  He was born Jan. 21, 1913 in Ohiopyle,
  the son of the late Gary and Emma (Bingner) Shipley.
    He was a retired track foreman for the B&O Railroad; member of the
  Church of God, Confluence.
    He is survived by widow, Helen Jacobs Shipley; also four sons:
  Merle of Confluence RD 1; Wilbert of Confluence; Ronald and Roger
  Lee, both at home; and four daughters: Mrs. David (Gladys) Sanner of
  Markleton RD 1; and Mrs. Gary (Beverly) Garletts of Mill Run RD 1;
  Mrs. Weldon (Alda Mae) Peary of Confluence RD 1; and Mrs. Robert
  (Nina Louise) Phillippi of Markleton RD 1; also 13 grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by three children in infancy; two
  brothers: Martin and Paul and two sisters: Mildred Anderson and Edith
  Shipley.
    Friends were received at the Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., 111 East
  Green Street, Connellsville, where services were held.  Interment,
  Indian Creek Baptist Cemetery.
