Shipley, 81, Greencastle, formerly a 41-year Meyersdale resident, died Sept. 2, 1988, in Waynesboro Hospital. Born Aug. 21, 1907, in Harrisburg, daughter of the late David F. and Grace (Young) Ryder. A graduate of Beaver College and a former York County School District physical education teacher. A member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greencastle. Her husband, Barron W. Shipley, died in 1978. Survived by son, Barron Shipley II, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; brother Donald F. Ryder, Hagerstown, Md.; sisters: Helen Wine, resident of Quincy Methodist Home; Dorothy Selman, Chambersburg; and three grandchildren. Memorial service 2 p.m. Wednesday at Harold Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle, the Rev. Donald Bohn officiating. Friends received one hour before service. Graveside service in Meyersdale's Union Cemetery 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Pamela Armstrong. Memorial contributions may be made to Lillian Bayshore Memorial Library, 305 E.
