Shippy, 78, 1384 Rockcut Road, Central City, died Aug. 5 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born Nov. 8, 1922, in Shade Township, son of the late J. Franklin and Mary K. (Diehl) Shippy. Also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy C. (Weyant) Shippy, whom he married on Feb. 14, 1947, and who died Dec. 16, 1994; infant brother, Robert, brothers, Harold, Dalton and Earl and sisters, Miriam Lewis, Ruth Powell and Florence Lafferty. Survived by these children, Denise Creamer, Garrett; Dennis, husband of Jolene (Stoltzfus) Shippy, Garrett; Kathy, wife of John Nalisink, Johnstown; and Linda Shippy at home; sisters, Doris Fochtman, New Baltimore, and Dora Cornell, Everett; 4 grandchildren, David, Beki, Nicole and Nita; and 1 great-grandson, Zachery. Retired as a truck driver after 60 years and was the owner of Carl Shippy & Son Trucking of Central City. He served in World War II as a Private in the U.S. Army. Friends received from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg, and from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service Tuesday, at the Manns Choice Church of God, Rev.
