He was aged 56 years, 11 months and 20 days. Mr. Shirer is survived by his wife, three sons and one daughter. Funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. Jeffreys in the Union Church in Markleysburg, on the afternoon of April 3rd. The body was laid to rest in the Thomas Cemetery. The floral tributes were profuse and beautiful. The beautiful and impressive burial service of the Grange was used at the grave. The high esteem in which Mr. Shirer was held was manifested in the large number of relatives and friends that attended the funeral. The Republic, April 12, 1934 [S1390]
