  Jacob D. Shirk Sr. 85, of Friedens RD 2, died May 29, 1987, at Maple
  Mountain Manor, Berlin.  Born April 2, 1902, in Martinsburg, son of
  the late Clinton H. and Daisy (Hoover) Shirk.  Preceded in death by
  former wife, Berle Shriner; grandchildren, Richard Miller and Jane
  Montgomery; sister, Elizabeth; and brother, John.  Survived by these
  children: Jacob D. Jr., married to the former Helen Shultz,
  Davidsville; Mary Moore, Stoystown RD 1; Mrs. Roy (Ina) Miller,
  Hooversville RD 1; Mrs. Robert C. (Alma) Miller of Friedens RD 2;
  Mrs. Charles (Mae) Clark, Santa Clara, Calif.; Blair, married to the
  former Marguerite Dexter, Thoms River, N.J.; Mrs. T.C.(Ruth) Pumphrey
  of Linthicum Heights, Md.; and Jane of Stamford, Conn.; also 17
  grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two
  great-great-grandsons.  Brother of Charles R. of Martinsburg.  A
  retired construction worker, life-time deacon of the Hooversville
  Church of the Brethren.  Family received friends Sunday evening and
  will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today at the Deaner
  Funeral Home, Stoystown.  Viewing at Hooversville Church of the
  Brethren from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, the
  Rev. Harry W. Bassett officiating.  Interment, P.O.S. of A. Cemetery
  of Hooversville.
