Born Dec. 5, 1952, in Erie. Son of Thomas Shirley of Erie and the late Marilyn (Allshouse) Shirley. Preceded in death by his sister Maura Dee Shirley; maternal grandparents, Donald and Marie Allshouse and paternal grandparents, Frank and Maud (Weaver) Shirley. In addition to his father, he is survived by many friends and relatives, including his uncle, Telford Lowry, Shanksville, with whom he resided for many years. The late Emmylou Shirley Lowry was his beloved aunt. He was a graduate of McDowell High School, Edinboro University and served in the U.S. Navy. At time of death, he was associated with U.S. Army War College as a technical biomedical master. He was well known for his expertise and one of the most knowledgeable individuals in this field. His enjoyments were basketball, table tennis and he was known as a computer teacher. Private burial service will be held in Clarion. A memorial service will be held locally at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at St. Mark's Church in Shanksville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
