Margaret Walker Shively, second daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George K. Walker who located in Salisbury in 1877, coming here from Frostburg, Md. Mrs. Shively was born in Salisbury, Jan. 15, 1881, and grew to womanhood here. In 1905 the Walker family left Salisbury, after Mr. Walker had conducted a general store here for a period of 28 years, and located in Berlin. From Berlin the family moved to Johnstown, and later to Greensburg, where Margaret Walker was united in marriage with Edward C. Shively. Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Shively, one of whom, George, survives with his father. Mrs. Shively died on the 15th of last November, aged 48 years and 10 months. None of her numerous friends here learned of her death until very recently, when the sad tidings came to Mrs. A. J. Mittlestaedt by letter. During the awful epidemic of influenza in 1918, Mrs. Shively was stricken hard by that disease, the after-effects of which finally caused her death. She is said to have suffered intensely, and almost continually from the time she was stricken by influenza until death came to her relief. Several surgical operations were resorted to, but they failed to bring the desired relief. In addition to her husband and one son, she is also survived by two sisters, and one brother, namely, Mrs. C. I. Riehl, Mrs. C. Frederick Schartz and Charles H. Walker, all of Greensburg.
