  SHOAF
  
    Merle J. Shoaf, 72, Somerset, died Thursday July 30, 1998, in
  Somerset Hospital.  Born Aug. 24, 1925, in Herminie, Pa., son of the
  late Hunter M. and Hattie (Kistler) Shoaf.  He retired as a trainman
  with Conrail, Pitcairn, August 1983 with 38 years service.  World War
  II Army veteran.  Member of Wesley Chapel, Rockwood.  Life-member of
  Manor Volunteer Fire Department and member of the United
  Transportation Workers of America, Pitcairn Local.  Survived by his
  wife, the former Geraldine F. Barker and these children: William G.
  and Ruth Ann, Greensburg; Jeffrey M. and Debbie, Manor; Debra A.
  Freeman, Pittsburgh; and Mrs. Edward (Diane) Yanizeski, Jeannette;
  and several grandchildren.  Friends will be received at the Vincent
  V. Rodgers Funeral Home, 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, Saturday from
  7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  Services will be held in
  the funeral home chapel Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas H.
  Zimmerman officiating.  Burial will follow, Westmoreland Memorial
  Park.
