She had been in failing health the past two months. Born in Finzel, she was a daughter of the late James and Oma (Caton) McKenzie. Mrs. Shockey was employed as head cook for the Senior Citizens Hot Meals program. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Route 40, the United Methodist Women and East Garrett County Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary. Surviving are her husband, Leonard Shockey; three daughters, Mrs. Alice Snyder, RD 2, Frostburg, Md.; Mrs. Nancy Barmoy, RD 3, Meyersdale, and Miss Faye Shockey, at home; a son, Gerald Shockey, RD 2, Frostburg, Md.; three sisters, Mrs. Edna Raley, Baltimore, Md.; Mrs. Helen Weimer, Mrs. Mary Hartman, Cumberland, Md.; three brothers, James Cobey McKenzie, William McKenzie, RD 2 and Jack McKenzie, Baltimore, Md.; and five grandchildren. The body was at the Durst Funeral Home, where friends were received. A service was conducted there Sept. 18, with Rev. John Kraybill officiating. Interment in Springs Cemetery.
