Shockey, 68, of 182 Crescent Dr., Akron, Ohio died September 27, 1978 following a lengthy illness. A native of Meyersdale, he had been an Akron resident 37 years. He was a retired new car salesman for Pontiac agencies, retiring from Haydocy Pontiac in 1976. Mr. Shockey was a member of Firestone Park United Methodist Church, Portage Lakes Lodge, No. 752, F&AM, A.A.S.R. Valley of Akron and a former member of the Pontiac Master Sales Guild. He is survived by wife, the former Hazel Wahl; son, Capt. John H. of Harvey, Mich.; daughter, Mrs. Lynn (Gretchan Lynne) Shober, of Waukesha, Wisc.; four grandchildren, Jeffrey, Debra, Tammy, and Jonathon Shober; brothers, Leonard and Roy, both of Frostburg, Md., Harold of Johnston, and Edison of Florida; sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Wiley of Barberton, Ohio; Mrs. Pearle McKinzie of Ravenna, O., Mrs. Verda Werner of Frostburg, Md. Funeral services were held at the Schlup Funeral Chapel, Kenmore Blvd. at Eighth St., Rev. Benjamin Black officiating. Portage Lakes Lodge No. 752 conducted Masonic services.
