He was born and reared in Greenville Township. At an early age he started to suffer from epilepsy which it was thought was brought on by a fall or a severe shock of some kind. On June 1st he was taken to Canton where he was receiving treatments from a famous nerve specialist and seemed to show decided improvement. But on the morning of the 19th, he suffered another epileptic attack which proved fatal. His death appears to have been caused by smothering. His body was brought here Saturday morning by Undertaker J. L. Tressler who drove out in his funeral car to take charge of the remains. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, in the Greenville Lutheran Church by Rev. S. D. Sigler, of Salisbury, pastor of the Greenville Lutheran Church. Burial was made in the Greenville Cemetery by Undertaker Tressler. Freeman Shockey became a member of the Greenville Lutheran Church about five years ago. He was a regular member in the Sunday school and attended the church services, at all times, regardless of his illness. Only one Sunday was he unable to attend Sunday school. He prayed constantly to be relieved from his sufferings and felt that some time his prayers would be answered. He was a very upright and moral young man. Besides his parents he is survived by three sisters and five brothers, Verda, Pearl, Leonard, Roy and Harold, at home, Charlotte and Edison in Akron, Ohio, and Carl at Hancock, Md.
