Shockey, 76, of Finzel, Md., died July 16, 1994 at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born December 24, 1917 in Pocahontas, he was the son of the late Henry and Mae (Jones) Shockey. He was also preceded in death by two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Effie (Werner) Shockey; one son, Rudy R. Shockey, and wife Sandy of Finzel; two daughters, Norma Lee Fickes and husband Herman of Finzel and Bonnie G. Shockey at home; three brothers, Leonard Shockey of Finzel, Harold Shockey of Johnstown and Edison Shockey of Florida; three sisters, Charlotte Wiley of Barberton, Ohio, Verda Werner of Finzel and Pearl McKenzie of Ravenna, Ohio; five grandchildren: Billy Fickes, Barry Fickes and wife Kim, Kelly Shockey, Tammie Shockey and Michael Shockey and two great-grandchildren, Jennifer Fickes and Christopher Fickes. He was a former employee of the Celanese Corp. and retired from Casselman Motors, Grantsville. He was an Army veteran of WWII and a former member of Eastern Garrett County Volunteer Fire Department. Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home July 18. Services were conducted July 19. Rev. Steve Heintz officiated. Interment, Finzel Cemetery. New Republic, July 21, 1994 [S1434]
