Shockey, 73, of Friedens RD 1, died May 25, 1982, at his residence. He was born Aug. 8, 1903, in Meyersdale, the son of the late Levi and Ellen (Miller) Shockey. He was also preceded in death by three children, Jay Earl; infant son; and infant daughter; two brothers and three sisters. He is survived by wife, the former Edna Baker, and these children: Mrs. Edward (Dorothy) Schmucker of Ephrata; Mrs. Clyde (Ruth) Platt of Berlin RD 1; Mrs. Reed (Jean) Walker of Somerset; Roy of Friedens RD 1; Mrs. Mark (Janet) Gulliver of Millville; Dale of Friedens RD 1; 25 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was a brother of Mrs. James (Cordilla) Tipton, Crystal River, Cal.; Mrs. Harry (Edna) Schrock, Mrs. Violet Livengood, Mrs. Ernest (Alda) Beck, all of Rockwood RD 1; and Orville of Friedens RD 2. He was a member of Somerset Alliance Church and a retired farmer. Death ended a marriage of 57 years. Friends were received at the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home. Services were held at the Somerset Alliance Church, the Rev. James Vandervort officiating. Interment, New Centerville Cemetery. The Republic, June 3, 1982 [S1435]
