Shoemaker Sr., 63, [sic] of Overbrook Drive, Maple Ridge Heights, Somerset, died March 7, 1973, in his residence. Born July 5, 1918, in Somerset, the son of Agnes (Walker) Shoemaker of Somerset and the late George G. Shoemaker. Survived by his widow, the former Kathryn S. Meyers; these children: Robert G. Jr., Somerset; Mrs. Matthew (Suzanne) Walker, Baltimore, Md.; four grandchildren. Was a brother of Mrs. Jack (Agnes) Statterfield, Irwin. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the IOOF of Somerset, past commander of the Somerset American Legion. He was a veteran of World War II, member of Somerset Volunteer Fire Department. He attended Franklin and Marshall College. He was the co-owner of Cobbler Motel in Somerset and an inspector for the General State Authority. Friends received in the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, where service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m., the Rev. H. James Meyers officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
