Born March 22, 1910, in Somerset, daughter of the late Miles Anthony and Rosamond (Wright) Varner. Also preceded in death by husband, Alvin M.; sister, Ruth Varner Hoffman; and brother, Forrest Varner. Survived by these children: Alvin V. of Chatham, N.J.; and Mrs. John R. (Sally) Kramer of Pittsburgh. Grandmother of Peter Varner, John Prevost, Christopher Leigh, and Julie Sarah Shumaker; and John Douglas, Matthew Alvin, and Mark Andrew Kramer. She and her husband were former partners of Somerset Lumber Co., and was one of the founding members of the Somerset Welfare League. Former director of Somerset Community Hospital and a graduate of Somerset High School, Class of 1928, and the Albright College, Class of 1932. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home, where private services will be held Saturday, the Rev. H. James Meyers officiating.
