Born May 11, 1934, in Cumberland, Md., he is the son of the late Faye and Emma (Yutzy) Short. He is preceded in death by an infant son, Samuel David Short Jr.; two brothers, Charles William and John Short and one sister, Patricia Sperry. Surviving are his wife, Grace (Baughman) Short; one son, Paul Short and wife, Janet, Salisbury; one daughter, Lori Knox and husband, John, Grantsville, Md.; two brothers, Thomas Michael Short and Robert Short, both of Salisbury and four grandchildren: Daniel, Amanda, and Kevin Short and Kristin Knox. Mr. Short was a construction worker for Local 419 Somerset, and was a member of the United Church of Christ, Salisbury, a lifetime member of the Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department, a member of Laborer's Local 419, and a U.S. Army veteran. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Newman Funeral Home, Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Highway, Salisbury where service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday. The Rev.
