Showalter, 71, of 700 67th Ave. West, Brandenton, Florida, died Wednesday, April 5, at his home. Visitation was from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Brown Funeral Home, 5624 26th St. W. Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8 in the 26th St. Chapel. The Revs. John White and Clarence Cumler of Christ United Methodist Church officiated. Burial was in Mansion Memorial Park, Ellenton. Mr. Showalter was born in Salisbury. He had made his home in Florida since 1966. He was a school teacher for 40 years in Salisbury, and also taught at Southeast High School. Mr. Showalter was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, past president and secretary of Christ United Methodist Men's Club, Sunday School teacher, and the Lions Club of Salisbury. He is survived by his widow, Anna; a brother, Robert Showalter of Boothwyn; and a sister, Mrs. Martha Weaman of Chester. The Republic, April 13, 1978 [S1497]
