Although he had some heart trouble and high blood pressure at intervals for a good while, his condition was not considered serious, and he was seen about town in Salisbury and West Salisbury practically every day. Last Friday night he attended a lodge meeting of the Improved Order of Red Men, in Salisbury, of which he was a member, and was also a participant at a supper held at the lodge hall after the lodge meeting was adjourned. He was well and in a jovial mood all evening, and up to the time he returned home from the lodge hall, which was at about 1 o'clock a.m. When death came to him at his home several hours later, it came practically without warning, and is supposed to have been caused by apoplexy, paralysis or heart failure. William Francis Showalter was the oldest child of Mrs. Ella Garlitz Showalter and her late husband, Green B. Showalter. His mother survives as do also two sisters, Mrs. Lottie Fate and Mrs. Roy Purbaugh, of Salisbury. He is also survived by his wife, one grandchild, and children as follows: Francis, Gertrude, Garnetta and Robert, at home, and Ellen and Martha, married and residents of Lewistown, Pa. The funeral was held at the family residence in West Salisbury, Monday, at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. W. T. Robinson, pastor of the Meyersdale M.E. Church. The burial arrangement was in charge of Funeral Director W. C. Price, of Meyersdale, and the burial was according to the rites and ceremonies of the Improved Order of Red Men, the local members of that order participating at the funeral. Interment in I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, February 18, 1932
